We also do great polishing work. Our master goldsmiths take their time to leave every piece for cleaning look like when you first purchased it. Jewelry Cleaning & Polishing

Though it seems simple, cleaning and polishing, like all aspects of jewelry repair, require a high level of expertise. While your jewelry may need minor maintenance and repairs, annual inspection and service can prevent more substantial and expensive problems from developing.
We use only the highest-quality modern polishing and ultrasonic equipment, as well as professional steam cleaning equipment to polish and clean your jewelry and watches. This, together with our team’s knowledge and experience, we can assure you that Claudia’s Jewelry Inc. knows how to handle and manage your jewelry cleaning and polishing needs.

Our Master goldsmiths are skilled to use a wide array of machines and handle the right tools to remove uneven or rustic surfaces from gold, platinum, silver, etc. Using wheels and bits charged with abrasive compounds, our jewelers know well how to shape and contour surfaces.
Through years of experience, a jeweler develops jewelry polishing techniques that seem to magically unlock the beauty and shine of precious metals.

The jewelry is then immersed and soaked in an ultra-sonic jewelry cleaner, along with the cleaning solution. Ultrasonic cleaners are useful for jewelry cleaning and removing tarnish. Ultrasound waves and chemicals combine from the machine to create bubbles that stick to the foreign particles such as dirt, oil, and unknown substances.

The high frequency waves are sent out and pull the contaminants off the object. The vibrations of the ultra-sonic machine result in break down of the dirt particles accumulated on the surface of the jewelry. This also removes all the tiny particles adhering to the metal and the gemstones. This process reaches parts of the jewelry that are extremely difficult to clean compared to traditional cleaning methods.

Once the residue and polishing greases have been removed, the jewelry is then cleaned by steaming the remaining residue away with a high-pressure steam nozzle.
Jewelry cleaned professionally by Claudia’s Jewelry Inc. will make your jewelry shine and sparkle.

Our jeweler is capable of also remounting any type of stones and is highly specialized in setting diamonds in any shape any way the customer likes. For example channel, bead, bezel, and invisible settings.

Invisible setting

Invisible-set diamonds have special channels cut into them which allow them to be set from underneath, and typically set flush to metal surrounding the diamond’s grid pattern, thus giving the illusion nothing is holding them together.
Grooves in each stone’s girdle slip into a metal framework below the surface, but the metal cannot be seen. Diamonds and gemstones sit side by side where they create the appearance of a solid surface of gems.
There is a metal framework on which the diamonds are mounted. The stones themselves have small channels cut in their bases, and the framework’s rails fit into these grooves.

Pavé and micro-pavé

The technique involves creating tiny beads or prongs from thesurrounding metal to hold the diamonds in place.
Diamonds are arranged at regular intervals, in a close proximity in a uniform arrangement, building up what appears to be a coating of diamonds, with each stone held within small grains of metal impossible to distinguish with the naked eye.
pavé settings were created by hand, working a flat surface of metal, and lifting the small grains of metal from the surface to hold each diamond.

Bezel setting

The bezel is shaped into the size and shape of the gem and then soldered into place on the metal of the jewelry. The prepared stone is then placed into the bezel and the metal is pressed down over the edges of stone, locking it into place.
There are two options for bezel settings: a full bezel “which encircles the entire stone” and a partial bezel “which holds two sides of the stone but leaves openings on the other two”. A full bezel covers about 10% of the diamond, though most people only see the top of the diamond ring.

Channel setting

Channel setting is a method whereby stones are suspended between two bars or strips of metal, called channels.
The channel setting, when executed professionally, locks each diamond safely into individual seats in the band, keeping them from being knocked out of place.

The flush diamonds create a spectacular sparkle and big diamond look. Because they’re set below or flush with the metal rows that hold them, the diamonds are protected and convenient for women with active lifestyles.
A channel-set ring arranges diamonds in a line around the band. The jeweler creates a channel in the ring’s band by adding a small metal lip on each edge. Diamonds or other gems nestle into this channel, and the lip keeps the stones securely in place.

Prong setting

Prong settings hold diamonds and other gemstones in place by using metal projections called prongs.
Prong settings are the most common and popular settings for diamond engagement rings. They act like small claws, rising up to grasp the diamond. They can hold any size stone in place, but are typically used to hold a larger center stone or multiple featured stones. Prong settings vary based on the shape of the diamond.

Most solitaire engagement rings for example use this setting. The prong setting consists of three or more metal prongs or “claws”set on top of the ring itself. The prongs will surround the diamond to keep it securely in place.

Halo Setting

The term (halo) is used to describe a row/s of paved melees that outline the perimeter of a center stone. The halo setting secures the ring’s center stone underneath a rim adorned with pavé, invisible-set or channel-set
diamonds.
Popular with celebrities, the halo setting creates a spectacular diamond look that is feminine and delicate. Halo settings can be round or squared in center or on the sides of the ring.

Rhodium Finishing

DOES YOUR WHITE GOLD RING LOOK DULL?
RHODIUM PLATING WILL RESTORE ITS NATURAL SHINE AND SPARKLE. WHITE GOLD RHODIUM PLATE JEWELRY

You will know when it needs to be replated. The metal color will start to show it’s original {yellowish} hue. Usually this will be on the bottom of the ring or on sides, where it gets most of the wear and tear.

Do not get worried when the back of your ring starts appearing dull or you see tinges of dull yellow on the surface this is a natural process when the rhodium on the surface of white gold starts wearing off and the original
milky yellow gold starts to emerge on the surface, Discoloration may occur on the unplated areas, You might be reading this because you are unhappy that your ring is getting “yellowish” and you want to know what is happening and why.  But this is no reason to panic. You can always get the shine and brightness of your white gold ring back to its original glory by getting rhodium plating done by our certified Jewelers. Ensure that you take care of your jewelry with our rhodium plating services here at Claudia’s Jewelry Inc.
Rhodium plating is a common procedure that is utilized with jewelry to enhance the scratch resistance of the surface while giving it a brilliant reflective appearance.

But, what is rhodium?

Rhodium is a precious metal, a member of the platinum family. Rhodium electroplating is used, especially on jewelry, to provide a surface that will resist scratches and tarnish, and give a white, reflective appearance.
If you want to maintain the distinct sheen, exuberance and beauty of your white gold rings and precious jewelry forever, rhodium plating or dipping is a great option. Rhodium plating will not only enhance the reflectivity and luster of white gold, but also make the diamonds on it shine brighter and appear more clear and brilliant.
There is nothing quite like the beautiful bright white finish that rhodium gives to a piece of jewelry. With its bright, glittering and reflective qualities from a few feet away it’s hard to tell where the stones end and the metal begins.Because rhodium is so bright and makes stones look so stunning.

Does the rhodium plating last forever?

It depends on the piece of jewelry and how much friction it gets. For earrings and necklaces, the rhodium plating may never wear off. But for rings that are worn daily, the rhodium plating may only last a year or two.
It really depends on how much wear your ring receives.

Why is rhodium used in jewelry?

Almost all white gold jewelry has been rhodium plated. The reason is because gold in it’s natural color is yellow. Think of the color of a gold nugget it’s not white. So to make white gold, pure gold is alloyed with white metals,This bleaches the color and whitens it. However, the color is more of an off-white. Kind of a dingy white-ish color.
Definitely not the color of platinum or high polished silver. In order for white gold to have a nice crisp bright white color like the platinum, the jewelry is rhodium plated. This plating really improves the appearance of the white gold jewelry.

How often should you Rhodium plate your jewelry?

We recommend that you have your rings plated every one or two years depending on your usage. When you notice that there is less sheen and reflection from your ring, simply bring in your jewelry piece and we will inspect it for you and give you details on our best recommendations that might be needed.

Do not doubt that we can change the appearance on your ring, or on any other jewelry piece. It doesn’t neccesarily have to be a ring it can be a chain, bracelet, pendant, earrings, or watches.Give us the challenge of
correcting what other’s couldn’t get done right is guaranteed. You will see that the service we offer is very professional, you will be a satisfied customer.

Nowadays with the popularity of white gold being very in, people don’t realize that white gold doesn’t always remain in white color. That is because white gold is made from pure 24Kt yellow gold. The original yellow gold is alloyed with some metals that give it white color.
However the metal has a yellow tint on the bottom. Rhodium is applied on the top to give it a white shiny look.
Ultimately rhodium wears away within time and reveals the yellow to white gold touch it has been concealing. If you have any white gold pieces you can have the rhodium finish given to them, in case they are turning yellow. Eventhough rhodium seems to be expensive as platinum and gold. We can do this service for your jewelry at a great price depending on the size of the piece.

Ring Sizing

Do you have a ring that doesn’t fit any more?

Whether your ring is too tight, too loose or you’re just not happy with
the fit, let our expert staff assist you in determining your proper ring size.
From bringing a ring size up or down, to soldering rings together, we have all of your ring repair needs covered! We size various types and styles of rings, yellow gold and white gold, platinum, sterling silver, palladium and more..  Most rings adjustments can be completed while you wait.

Sizing Up vs. Sizing Down

Sizing Up

To increase the size of a ring, We offer several options and sizing
methods to ensure that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for beauty.
Our jeweler will check your ring and determine what would be the best way to bring your ring to the desired size and insure it’s integrity.
The jeweler can either stretch the metal (though not recommended in some cases) or cut the band and create a bridge of additional metal to “re-join” the pieces.  Sometimes if a ring is just stretched out it might thin the shank, that’s why we recommend add metal instead of stretching it .

The jeweler will cut into the bottom part of the ring (called the shank.)  and add a piece of the same metal that the ring is made in (whether it be yellow gold, white gold, platinum, sterling silver) Adding a piece of metal is necessary when enlarging the size to increase the circumference of the ring. The piece of metal added is then soldered to the ring and the entire shank becomes one piece. The ring is polished and refinished to insure a uniform shine.

Sizing Down

Making a ring smaller requires metal to be removed. The jeweler will cut into the bottom part of the ring (called the shank.) and remove the necessary amount of metal, and once the metal is removed, the jeweler will use pliers to bring the ring back together, Where the two ends meets, the jeweler will then solder the ring back together.
Then the ring will be (re-rounded) filed, and polished so that little to no evidence of the sizing remains. The ring will then be placed on a Mandrel to confirm the correct size,The ring is then polished to insure a uniform shine.

Some rings, however, do not require cutting in order to be sized. Another way in which a ring can be sized smaller (only rings without gems such as a plain wedding band) are prime candidates for sizing by compression.
To compress a wedding band or other rings smaller, the ring is placed in a specialized machine.
The ring is then pushed into each die until the desired size is reached. This resizing method “compression” should only be used for size adjustments up to 1 to 2 sizes down.
